Lutalyse contains Dinoprost, a synthetic prostaglandin F2a. Lutalyse is used in reproductive medicine of horses & Ponies. It has a luteolytic (destruction of the corpus luteum) and oxytocin like effect to help control the timing of oestrus in mares. This medication is also licenced for use in pigs and cattle.
It has luteolytic (causes the corpus luteum to regress) & oxytocic effect.
In mares it is given by intramuscular injection, & used to:
1. Induce abortion
2. Control the timing of oestrus more effectively in reproductively cycling mares
3. Treat mares that aren't showing signs of being in season (behavioural oestrus), but do have a functional corpus luteum.
This product requires a prescription from your vet & will only be dispatched once we receive this prescription.

Warnings & Contraindications- Can cause sweating & mild colic signs in horses. Take care when handling the product & avoid contact with skin or self injection.
Women of child-bearing age, asthmatics & people with respiratory problems should avoid contact with, or wear disposable plastic gloves when administering the product.
Pregnancy & Lactation- Only give to pregnant mares if intending to cause abortion or induce parturition. Seek advice from your vet for use during lactation.
Passport Requirements- This medication cannot be used in horses intended for human consumption. Your vet must have signed Section 9 of your horse's passport (or Section 2 for passports issued after 1st January 2016).
